Still Here!

I’m still here folks! Still trotting along.  Still swimming.

It’s been a hectic week.  Mother Nature is rearing her ugly head here in the Northeast this week.  So, I was only able to get 2 workouts in this week – ugh.

So – this is how I did this week”

Monday

10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 squat cleans

1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10 ring dips

I think we had 20 – 25 minutes to do this.  No one finished it.  You did the clean, then the dips.  My total was 58 reps.

But, here is the best part – I totally had a PR! I did my squat clean with 75 lbs!!!  I was super excited.  I didn’t care that I only got through half of the workout.  It is this stuff that means so much.  Plus, my squats are so much better… I know, I know. Who’d thunk? LOL  The ring dips, those are tough, man.  I used a green band.  Even though there were only 2 elements, this was a tough workout.  It always seems its the only ones that don’t look too bad, that end up kicking your ass.

Wednesday

25 time cap

5 Wall Climbs

10 Step Ups – 12 ” box with 15lb and 35 lb plate / 30 lb DB

15 V Ups

Boy oh boy, Wall Climbs.  I stink at these, yes, I can get up to the wall, but getting my body close to the wall, ugh.  Coach Jane was trying to help me.  She told me , “Once you get up, just slide your hands back.” Cha! Jane does always know how to push me the right way, but trying to ” slide” over 230 lbs on your hands, just ain’t happening. I tried.  I did , but felt like I was going to snap my arms in half.  Another goal to push for.

The step ups, I went for a higher step .  so now I am between the 12″ and the 18″. I am guessing 16″?? I started with 35 lbs like I have been using, but Coach Jane suggested going to 30 lbs so I can work on the higher step.  I was not easy but I did it.

V ups- or shin ups as I call them, since I cannot hit my toes yet, getting closer though.

This was a hard workout. I enjoyed it!

 

Due to mother nature being an asshole here lately, I have missed a class the past 2 weeks. She needs to cut the shit.  I have a big weekend next weekend, I want to look and feel good!   I am going to start doing things at home to keep myself in check, like sit ups, vups, push ups, squats.  I have got to keep swimming!

Good Morning People!

I have been at it this week with the workouts!  This week is a shorter week at my gym, so I had class Monday and Tuesday.  I wanted to make sure I got in as much as I could before I stuff my face on Thursday.  And yes, I will be stuffing my face.  Not overdoing it too much, but a good face stuffing here and there never hurt anyone 🙂

What are you looking forward to on Thanksgiving? I, most of all, am looking forward to time spent with family ❤

These are my workouts from this week so far, lets break down how I did:

Monday

We did Squat Clean practice – 6×3.  I improved! My weight went from 55 lbs to 65 lbs! I felt kinda stuck at 55 lbs, I am so glad I am stronger so I can increase it.  Not saying I want to be a body builder by any means, but this experience has totally changed my perspective on fitness and what I want out of mine. So, yeah, I want to be fit an able to lift a bunch of weight.

Then we had a 15 minute WOD – 4 rounds.

10 Alternating DB snatches – 35 lbs! – I really like snatches, I have since I started them, I felt 35 lbs was challenging too. But I did it!

15 Hollow Rocks – now these bad Larry’s….. ugh. I got through them, but thought I was going to snap in half.  They totally sound like fun, like you are a human see saw, until you do them.

25 Double Unders – so we could count our Double Under Attempts, which I did not hear the first round, so I did a bunch. My DU’s are still a work in progress, but I got 4 in a row, so that was good.  I got a lot more than I have in the past in the workout, so more progress.

My time was 16:04 ( they let me finish the last of the DU’s) I finished later, but I finished. And for me, that is cool beans.

Tuesday

We did Back Squat technique and practice and handstand practice before the WOD.

50 Back Squats – 55 lbs

40 V ups

30 Power Cleans – 55 lbs

20 Lateral Hop Burpees – oh my Sweet Baby Jesus! Burpees are my current nemesis. They take me forever.  Mostly because I cannot get my legs to jump in, so I kinda waddle it in.  I really need to find a way to get better at them. Honestly, we do them a lot and I feel I should be better, guess it is going to take some at home practice.

10 Hand stands – okay, so It was supposed to be handstand push ups, but I am not there yet. At least I am on the wall, and can do a handstand.   I have to work on getting myself to stay on the wall.  But at least I did not fall this time!  I will say this again, though, Hand Stands are totally mental more than physical.

My time for this was 18:34 .

 

2 nights in a row, after being out for 2 weeks felt really good. Getting back into full swing.   I feel like I am at home in my gym with my awesome peeps.

To date, I am down 35 lbs! Oh yeah baby! I would love to be down another 15 by the end of the year, but I do not think that is realistic for me.  I have been losing about 5 lbs a month.  And with all the holiday food that will be coming and make its way to my face, its going to be a challenge.  But , you know, this year, I feel I am better equipped to make better decisions, and maybe will stay away from the 2nd serving of mashed potatoes.

Now down to this week so far….

My beautiful niece Hope , just turned 2, her party was Sunday.  One of our favorite appetizers is Pizza Dip.  Totally not healthy, not good for you, but wicked yummo.  My sister made some, so of course, I indulged. Oh Sweet Baby Jesus, was it good!  Then of course, the cupcakes, funfetti.  It was all over.  Stick a fork in me,  I am done.  So Sunday, was delicious, but a massive fail on the health meter.

Yesterday, a Cheesecake made its way to the work fridge – and you guessed it – It was all over.  I LOVE Cheesecake, like seriously, freakin love the stuff.  I have not had it in a while.  It tasted soooo good!  But as soon as the last creamy bite crossed my lips, I felt the Ugh.  Ugh at myself, Ugh at the Cheesecake, Ugh at my willpower and how it betrayed me.  Just total ugh.  I was the Mayor of Ugh City.  For my penance, I was looking forward to class last night.

We did cleans, squat thrusters and V- ups.  Yeah, it would be great if I could do a proper squat.  It is so damn irritating, that I cannot get it down right, then I over think it when I try it further screwing up.  I just wish my body would do what it is supposed to do.  ARRGG!   My V- Ups were more of ” Shin Ups” Since I can’t get to my toes, but boy does my core hurt today, but its a good hurt.  🙂

Then we stretched out with some bands.  So I am lying there, band around my foot, attempting to keep my leg in the air when they say to move your leg across your body while keeping your arm on the ground.  My leg rolled over and I just kinda rolled there through the movements.  Trying to move back, rolled. Trying a different move, more rolling.  I was like a damn Weeble, rolling around, laughing away.  Hey, at least I can laugh at myself!
