A little extra

I was able to get squeezed in to the Saturday 10 am workout.  I was psyched! 4 workouts last week!

We worked on Push Press and Power Cleans before hitting the WOD.  I went up to 65 lbs.  After practice, the WOD was 3 rounds for time.

5 Pull ups – I used Green and tan bands

10 Push Press 65 lbs

20 Power Cleans 65 lbs

35 Body weight Squats

My time for 3 rounds was 18:54.

I think if I went lighter on the weights, I could of finished sooner, but I like the challenge.  Those damn squats is what killed me.

Life is retuning to normal.  Gotta get moving and working on all my goals!

Commit to it!

Well folks, I am absolutely exhausted.  Pooped! Tonights class kicked my ass.  But, I said I would post every day, and that is what I am going to do.   Gotta commit!!! And follow  through.

Here’s tonights workout and how I did:

we were given 30 minutes

50 Squats  ( my squats are getting better, but still need work)

40 Double unders ( i did 40 attempts, still can’t get them! Ugh)

30 Power Cleans – did 55 lbs

20 Burpees ( The Devil, the freakin devil. Burpees are my downfall, every WOD that has burpees, I am guarenteed to finish last or not at all)

10 Toes to Bar ( not there yet, so I did knee raises on the bar)

5 Rope Climbs ( Cha! That wasn’t going to happen, did 25 ring rows instead)

10 TTB

20 Burpees ( even worse this set, Thought I was going to puke and cry or both, but I kept saying, just keep swimming! and eventually I finished)

30 Power Cleans

40 DU – ( time ran out, so I did 120 regular jumps)

50 Squats

I went over time, thankful to new coach Linda, for letting me finish.  And my amazing classmates, Cristal, Maria, Nicole and Jen for cheering me on.  I haven’t finished that last in a while.  It sucked.  But it just cements the fact that I have so much farther to go.  I will get everything. I will be able to conquer these moves.  We have a long way to go.  Its gonna be a long swim.  But aren’t you excited?!?! Its going to be AMAZING!

On a side note : I was honked at today.  Silly, I know, but It has been a long ass time since I was honked at.  Hooray for strangers recognizing your efforts!!! LOL!

Pull – ups – My Phantom Menace

I have a new nemesis – Pull Ups. I can’t friggen do them.  I can barely do ring rows instead.  I need to get my upper body strength better.  I have so much weight to ” pull up”  So – we have a new goal.

My modification for the pull ups is ring rows.  Ring rows for those who are unaware, is when you have your hands in rings, then lean back and move your feet in , then pull your self up .  See the pic below.

This particular exercise is terrifying for me as the reigning Mayor of Fatty McButterpants City.   I have to hold myself up on these little nylon straps and pray they hold as I struggle to pull my self up.  I feel as if the whole rig is gonna topple over on me.  I know it won’t , I think it is bolted to the floor, but when you are using your own weight and you have a lot of it, any thing is possible, especially things snapping and breaking.  You know what I mean, that wobbly chair, you look at it and it crumbles to pieces.  You sit your ass in the car and the whole side goes wayyyyyy down.  Forget about sitting in those little kid chairs at Parent Teacher Conferences, HA! Its easy when you have a big butt to break things with it.

The sad thing is, as someone who is larger, this is what I think about.  I can’t wait until I don;t have to think about it. I am well on my way.

If  I looked at this like I was defeated, Sweet Baby Jesus, where would that leave me?  I WILL do it, maybe not soon, but I will.

 

SO yeah, Star Wars reference, the fam loves Star Wars, especially my oldest.    I thought it was a good way to tie them in 🙂

 

Gotta keep up the swim folks!!! We will get there!
